The Yoga Life: Corpse Pose Posted December 7, 2007 at 03:00 PM by Valerie Cerami The Corpse (Savasana) Description Relaxation pose. Splayed out flat on the back, eyes closed, palms up, arms and legs open, feet flopped outward. Looks like a “corpse”. Benefits Relaxes the body and mind, relieves stress and anxiety, deepens breathing, quiets the self (thoughts, etc.), re-energizes and refreshes. Usually done at the end of a practice (held for a minimum of 5 minutes). Allows the practice to “settle in” and gently brings you out of the restorative “meditative mode”. How To 1) Begin by lying on your back, feet slightly apart, arms at your sides with palms facing up.
