It works with DNA to direct the development of the body’s cells, oversees the growth of those cells and directs stem cells into becoming other types of cells. Retinol is an active form of Vitamin A. This is crucial for vision, especially the ability to see in low light. Retinol changes light images to sight and keeps the eye’s surface healthy. Beta-carotene is a Vitamin A precursor, which means your body absorbs beta-carotene and changes it into an active, usable form of Vitamin A. Beta-carotene is an antioxidant, and therefore Vitamin A plays a role in protecting cells from damage by free radicals.
