But can you do more to get the full benefit of taking those 10,000 steps a day? Dr. Mirkin offers advice on how to go from “walking for health” to “walking for fitness” with his tips on making walks a workout. Read on for his ideas. Walking is a very safe sport because it rarely causes injuries. Running causes injuries frequently because you take both feet off the ground at the same time and land with a tremendous force that can tear muscles and shatter bones.
