The truth is that stretching can help improve performance, prevent injury, and reduce muscle soreness. So when should you stretch, before or after your workout? The answer is both. Stretching before your workout will help to prevent injury and improve your performance. Stretching after your workout will help to decrease or prevent soreness. A tired muscle tends to tighten up, so stretching it will help keep it loose. Stretching after your workout will also help to improve your flexibility. A warm muscle is more limber then a cold muscle, so you’ll find you can stretch further after you have exercised. When stretching, remember to hold the stretch for at least 10 seconds. Do not bounce!
