Losing Weight Isn’t All That Matters Posted May 5, 2008 at 02:00 PM by Martinique Haller In this column, staff writer Martinique Haller explores the misconceptions of dieting and evaluates her own ideas of weight and weight loss in regards to herself. She also delves into the timeless predicament of how to maintain weight loss once the initial triumph is replaced by the routine of everyday living. My middle twenties consisted of feel good, but poorly paid, Americorps work, graduate school, making lattes, new friends, coming out, and slowly but surely gaining enough weight to look like my high school self’s older, wider cousin. After getting engaged and using a road trip to my wedding shower as an excuse to eat the fast food that I normally eschew, I decided that I needed to take action.
