Increased flexibility has a variety of advantages, from a reduced risk of injuries to being able to move through a greater range of motion, thus improving your performance. But what is the ideal stretching protocol? This is the question that was posed by a few researchers in a recent study by the Journal of Strength Conditioning Exercise. The study’s purpose was to determine whether the timing (before or after a workout) of a series of static stretching would impact flexibility levels in the hip, knee and ankle. The stretching would be performed either before or after a workout and then results would be taken.
