Friday’s Poll: Are You Eating Your Fruits and Veggies? Posted May 16, 2008 at 11:00 AM by Martinique Haller The CDC has a great new site called Fruits and Veggies Matter. Using an interactive tool, you can plug in your sex and age and level of physical activity to see how many fruits and vegetables you need to consume each day. Supposedly I need 2 cups of fruit and 2.5 cups of vegetables. Why is that important? This is what the CDC says. “Compared to people who eat only small amounts of fruits and vegetables, those who eat more generous amounts—as part of a healthy diet—are likely to have reduced risk of chronic diseases. These diseases include stroke, type 2 diabetes, some types of cancer, and perhaps heart disease.” Now we all know we need to make healthy eating a priority, but how good of a job are you doing?(Continued...)
