WHAT NOT TO SAY:
1. Oh relax. So you take some time off and watch t.v. like everyone else. What’s the big deal?
2. Are you really gonna eat that next piece of pizza if you’re not running much these days?
3. No I didn’t forget about your issue. You talk about it everyday.
4. Gosh, it’s been so long since you’ve been running that you probably can’t even pull off a mile, eh?
5. Woah, you are really turning into an old lady.
WHAT TO SAY: 1. I’m sure this is hugely disappointing. I know how hard you worked. 2. Don’t forget all your accomplishments so far. 3. I’ll bet you will come back stronger and faster than ever. 4. While this setback may seem bloody long, it’s only temporary. You will run again. 5. I’m really proud of you for what you have done so far. You’re an inspiration.
