It’s my belief that humans didn’t evolve so that we could slouch in front of a computer all day. However, it is how I spend most of the time at my job. It’s very important to remember the benefits of good posture. It is as important as drinking water, exercising and sleeping. What is good posture? Spine Health describes it like this. “Basically, having correct posture means keeping each part of the body in alignment with the neighboring parts. Proper posture keeps all parts balanced and supported. With appropriate posture (when standing) it should be possible to draw a straight line from the earlobe, through the shoulder, hip, knee, and into the middle of the ankle.” Do not slouch so that your head hangs over your neck and your shoulders rise up in a tense position. Do not slump forward with your legs so that your back is pushed low and you are overstretching to reach your keyboard. Make a point to sit up straight and occasionally stand up and walk away from your chair.
