Section: Her Health, Her Motivation, Special Features, Podcasts
The first episode of the Her Active Life Podcast features an interview with cervical cancer survivor Christine Baze.
Cervical cancer is a preventable disease that can afflict women of any age and is caused by human papillomavirus, a common virus that most of us will encounter at some point in our lives. For most, HPV doesn’t cause problems. For others, like Christine, it leads to cell changes that develop into cervical cancer if not detected and treated.
In this personal interview, Christine shares the story of her surprising diagnosis and painful treatment, which included the laproscopic removal of her ovaries, pelvic radiation, and four rounds of chemotherapy. Today, Christine is cancer-free and intent on ensuring that women everywhere know the facts about preventing cervical cancer by getting regular Pap tests and the HPV vaccine. In 2003, she started The Yellow Umbrella concert tour to channel her activism in music. Download the podcast to hear more about Christine’s own illness and return to health, and the crucial facts that women need to know about cervical cancer and the options for prevention and treatment.
