For the active individual, winter is not an excuse to hibernate - or even cause to move workouts inside - instead, it’s reason to invest in some workout gear that will keep you warm as temperatures dip.
According to geartrends.com, when working out in cold weather you lose heat through the soles of your feet, through the cooler air circulating around you, the evaporation of sweat and the radiation of body heat.
The solution to heat loss? Layers, gloves, hats, socks--anything that will help your body pack in the heat.
In order to help you find the best items, Her Active Life has compiled a list of four key additions to your wardrobe that will make it easier to stay warm - and fit - in the winter.
New Balance NBx Intrepid: This Spandex-Polyester blend pant uses New Balance’s Lightning Dry technology which is designed to pull moisture away from the body to keep you dry and warm during your workout.
Nike Performance Headphones: Besides having headphones built-in - all you have to do is plug in your mp3 player and hit the play button - this cap by Nike uses “double-brushed microfiber fleece” to prevent the radiation of body heat.
The North Face Impulse Hoodie: Similiar to the Intrepid running pant, this hoodie pulls moisture away from the body so that it can evaporate on the surface of the fabric rather than your skin. It also comes in five great colors.
Champion Advanced Performance Friction-Free Socks: These socks will keep your feet dry and warm while preventing blisters, chafing and odor.
