While milk isn’t the only source of calcium you can get, there is a lot of truth behind this statement. Women especially can benefit from a diet high in calcium and vitamin D, which studies have shown can help reduce the risk of osteoporosis and bone fractures. Calcium has also been shown to play a role in regulating blood pressure. So how much calcium should you be getting on a daily basis? Women under 50 should aim to get around 1,000 mg, while women over 50 should bump that figure up to around 1,200 mg a day.
