ENTER IMAGE NAME BETWEEN QUOTES - USE ENGLISH NOT FILE NAMING STRUCTURE Water resistant sunscreen protects your skin for 40 minutes of sun exposure. Waterproof sunscreen protects it for 80 minutes. If you are planning on spending all day at the beach or in the pool, remember to reapply! One application will not protect you for the entire day. Also, make sure you are using enough sunscreen to get the job done. Studies have shown individuals use about half the recommended amount of sunscreen the manufacturer used when determining the SPF. The average adult needs about one ounce of sunscreen for adequate protection.

you’re full of baloney. i am very fair skinned and burn quickly without protection. i have just spent a week in cancun mexico and i have very little color to show for it. how did i do it? i applied store brand “very water resistant” sunscreen spf 30 once a day. the key is to apply before you leave your room! the sunscreen directions always say apply 30 minutes before exposure, but EVERYBODY waits till they’re poolside or on the beach to apply. give the stuff time to soak into your skin before swimming and you’ll be fine. don’t forget to sit on towels in your car because sunscreen can damage upholstery and plastics. my parents’ vinyl strap pool furniture was ruined by repeated contact with sunscreen.

  2. What SPF number would you recommend?

I didn’t know that the water resistant and the waterproof sunscreens are two different things and protects us for only a few minutes. Thanks for clarifying that. :)

  4. I do agree that one should put sunscreen 30 minutes before they exposure, it really works.

I thought one application of sunscreen will be enough to protect you for the entire day. Now, I know what to do next time I go to beach or pool. Thanks.

  6. It’s better to be sure so putting sunscreen before direct exposure to the sun wouldn’t hurt right?
