Could these items be your favorite things as well? Her Active Life readers are modern women. We believe in our own high self-worth. We believe we deserve the good things in life. We are concerned with treating ourselves well. We believe in a well-balanced life that is physically, emotionally and spiritually fulfilling. So how does Oprah, a veritable self-made woman, stack up against us?
The annual Oprah “Favorite Things” Christmas Giveaway aired this week. The show took place in Macon, Georgia, since this city continually ranks high in viewership. Why not give back to the people who make us who we are? Gratitude is a dominant quality in the HAL reader as well.
Let’s take a look at some of the gifts Oprah had in store for her audience members this year. If she were Santa coming down your chimney, would you be happy to be on the receiving end? Would you think these items reflected your HAL personality and style?
SHAKLEE GET CLEAN™ STARTER KIT These are natural non-toxic ‘green’ cleaning products. They are very environmentally friendly. However, at $90 a kit, I think they might do more to actually clean out my wallet.
PERFECT ENDINGS CUPCAKES FROM WILLIAMS-SONOMA Nothing says “I love myself” like a $59 cupcake. If the price doesn’t make you balk, how about the ingredients? Made up of fresh eggs and real butter, these are sure to be a heart-healthy treat!
O’S GUIDE TO LIFE: The Best of O, The Oprah Magazine Without having tangible numbers at hand, I can only base this on what I’ve seen, but isn’t Oprah herself the only person to ever grace the cover of her magazine? With an approximate value of $30, this might be the quintessential HAL reader gift. After all, nothing says you value yourself like a book about you made up of articles from a magazine about your opinions!
UNITED ARTISTS 90TH ANNIVERSARY PRESTIGE COLLECTION This is a DVD collection of 90 movies from the United Artists’ catalog. It rings in just under $900.00! If each movie has an average run time of 2 hours, this amounts to 180 hours of sitting on your butt. How many years of your gym membership could you have bought for nearly $900?
HDTV REFRIGERATOR WITH WEATHER AND INFO CENTER FROM LG ELECTRONICS Ah, my personal favorite! Definitely on my Christmas list. This is not just a refrigerator. At $3,799.00, this is an entertainment center with a DVD hook-up and a slideshow option. What a great concept for today’s busy woman. For true multi-tasking, you can watch tv while eating your $59 cupcakes and cleaning with your $90 cleaning products. What a time saver!
