Move of the day: Dumbbell Hammer Curl

Hold a dumbbell in each hand. Stand straight with arms arms hanging down and palms facing in. Keep your elbows at your sides as you raise the dumbbell up until your thumb is in line with your shoulder. Do not turn your wrist---your thumb will touch your shoulder, not the knuckles of your fingers as in the traditional bicep curl. Lower the weight and then repeat on the other side. This is a variation on the more popular bicep exercise, the bicep curl. By adding variation to your routine, you challenge your muscle to work harder since it is working itself in a new way. Perform as many reps and sets as you would with the bicep curl. Do not worry that heavier weights will cause you to bulk up. It’s almost impossible for a woman to develop Popeye muscles without taking steroids or certain medications.
