In the dark I see the
Nothingness that is

In the light
Dreams disappear

Fresh in the air
Breath evaporates to sighs

We wonder why we’re here

Ownership quarreling over
“Them” and “I’s” surmise

The sides of justice and –in cast
Into stone demise

Quietly we yell
Surprise

The past lies in the future
And the future in the past

All we own is now

And Alas

It has passed

We wonder why we’re here

The last alas aloud

At last
